Goldthorpe Primary Academy, South Yorkshire
We were thrilled to be able to work with Goldthorpe Primary Academy in South Yorkshire on their fantastic vision for their outside space.
What Did The School Need?
A whole host of markings, games, and activities meant to enhance kids’ outdoor learning and exercise through play. Luckily, this is exactly what we specialise in!
A Closer Look at Our Designs
If you’re curious about the designs we installed for Goldthorpe Primary, we’ve listed them here for your convenience and consideration:
1-36 Solid Snakes and Ladders
A gorgeous rainbow take on a traditional game, the 1-36 Solid Snakes and Ladders is a playground favourite.
1-100 Solid Snakes and Ladders
If you liked the idea of 1-36 Solid Snakes and Ladders, then you’ll love the 1-100 Solid Snakes and Ladders! It’s designed for older students who are a little further along in their counting, but still want the fun and excitement of a great game at break and lunch.
4-Way Hopscotch
This 4-Way Hopscotch is a brilliant way for pupils to play a classic game together! Instead of one person going at once, you can have four kids all competing to get to the middle and back.
Fitness Circle
A fantastic addition to any PE lesson, the Fitness Circle lets kids experience a range of different exercises all in one go. How you choose to use them is up to you.
Globe
We’re always happy to make something a little different for a school when asked. The Globe was one of these custom products, displaying a map of the world with the continents in different colours.
I AM Hopscotch
The I AM Hopscotch marking stands out from your standard Hopscotch game, helping kids to feel confident in who they are.
Mr Wolf
Yet another classic playground game, the Mr Wolf markings give pupils a permanent place to play. It also helps to mark out step sizes, so there can never be any cheating!
Numicon Bar
The brightly coloured chart that is the Numicon Bar is a great way for kids to learn to count and to learn how to start measuring things, at the same time.
Phonics Pond
The Phonics Pond is one of our favourite product sets for outdoor learning. Here, students have to jump to the “lilypad” with the correct phonic set for a sound, and it goes up in phases to accommodate skill level. Goldthorpe Primary selected the Phonics Pond Phase 3.
Premium Roadway
If you want to teach kids all about road safety and give them a place to carry out imaginative play in their free time, the Premium Roadway offers you the little “town” to do it in.
Solar System
There’s nothing quite like having your very own Solar System to look at when teaching your pupils all about space and hosting the lesson outside makes it that much more memorable.
Target Throw
A clever mix of mathematics and hand-eye coordination skills, the Target Throw is an excellent game for PE or for an ordinary break time. All they’ll need is a ball or bean bag and some chalk to tally up the score.
Treasure Island
Do your kids enjoy playing pretend as pirates? If so, nothing will stir up the imagination quite like having their very own Treasure Island, complete with “shark-infested waters”!
Upper/Lowercase Alphabet Snake
The Upper/Lowercase Alphabet Snake is the perfect way to get kids learning their letters at break and lunch, and playing all sorts of fun games at the same time.
What Were We Most Proud of?
While we took pride in all the work we completed for the school, perhaps our greatest success this time around was the bespoke Globe. The custom design met all of the requirements we were given, and the school was very happy to receive it.
With this new feature in place on their playground, the children should be able to enjoy some outdoor geography lessons in short order.
A Message from a Grateful Academy Head
Thomas Bower, the Academy Head at Goldthorpe Primary, signed off the work that was completed and left us with this message:
“Very professional and workmanship is carried out to a high standard. Always kept us informed of timescales and updates throughout the work being completed. Thank you for all your hard work and transforming our school playground.”
