A Bold Playground Marking Project for Beecroft Academy
It was a delight to be able to offer so much in the way of playground markings to Beecroft Academy, a primary school in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
What Did This Primary School Request from Us?
There was lots to be done for Beecroft Academy! This primary school wasnāt just looking for playground markings, installed in a bare spot outdoors. First things first, they needed our removal services to take up old designs that had been worn out and faded to the point where they were no longer fun or useable to their fullest potential. This gave us enough room to work with to put down a host of new playground marking designs for them.
Alongside this, they also had a Multicourt design that needed remarking. This is where we go over older designs with thermoplastic to give old markings a new lease of life and make it vibrant again.
The Playground Markings We Installed for Beecroft Academy
Do you want to know more about the new playground markings we put down for this primary? Then youāre in luck because we have a quick guide to all of them here:
1-20 Snake
For a fun and fantastic way to get kids to learn their numbers, weād highly recommend considering our 1-20 Snake. He isnāt fierce, heās friendly! Heās also here to be the basis of any number of games involving counting. Even when heās not being used for that, heās great to stir up kidsā imaginations at break and lunch, when theyāre playing pretend.
1-36 Snakes and Ladders (Half Solid)
You donāt get much more traditional in the way of games than this. Our 1-36 Snakes & Ladders (Half Solid) lets your kids play it outside for a change! All youāll need is a set of big dice, and perhaps some cones to act as markers if the children canāt stand on the board themselves.
4 Square Solid
For older kids with a little more practise in their coordination, a game like 4 Square Solid is ideal for anything from a full PE lesson to quick games at break time and lunch. Grab a bouncy ball and a list of the rules and have a fun afternoon outdoors.
Alphabet Dragon
This fabulous firebreather is a brilliant addition to a primary school playground for two reasons; firstly, heās good to use when youāre making up word games outdoors, meaning kids learn and get exercise at the same time. Secondly, he can become the basis of so many stories for English classes! Naming your Alphabet Dragon could even become a friendly class competition.
Fitness Circuit
If you want an easy, designated area for kids to run, jump, hop, and skip their way to fitness, the Fitness Circuit is just what you will need. Send kids around it one at a time, set them up for a relay race, or even hold small competitions to see who can finish first. The design will also fit neatly into a range of playground sizes, with some assistance from us.
Number Target 5
To get your kids practising their hand-eye coordination skills, and maybe doing a little bit of maths, at break time and lunch, you can always rely on the Number Target 5. All you need for this game is bean bags that you can throw. The rest sort of works like archery ā the closer you get to the middle, the more points you score.
Standard Roadway
Every child has played ātownā games, at one point or another. This Standard Roadway gives them a permanent place to do it outside, where they can pretend to drive around and make up adventures as they go. The important part comes in what they learn as they ādriveā because the roadway comes with its own traffic lights, pedestrian crossing, and roundabout that they will have to obey. Those are the rules of the road, after all!
What Did We Love About This Playground Marking Work?
We were really happy that the school loved our work so much, that they shared the photos of their new playground markings on X/Twitter. Beecroft Academy even tagged us in the post, allowing us to continue to be a part of the process. It was nice to be able to show everyone in the school community what we can do, whether thatās parents or students, as well as other schools in the local area who may be thinking about getting their playgrounds a makeover.
What Did Beecroft Academyās Staff Think?
Sarah Hughes, Headteacher of Beecroft Academy, wanted to say this about all the playground markings we installed for her school in Dunstable:
āMany thanks for the work on our playground. It looks great and we are really pleased with the final designs. It was too wet to take photos of the children enjoying them today but when I take the photos, I will add them to our Twitter feed and link you in.ā
āThe representative who spent time at our school completing this work was friendly, polite and professional.ā
