Brand-New Playground Markings for John Rankin Schools

John Rankin Schools, a combined infant and nursery school set against the country backdrop found around Newbury in Berkshire, was the subject of this playground marking makeover. They were, first and foremost, looking to infuse life and colour into their ageing sports court. The objective was to create an inviting and dynamic environment where pupils could exercise and learn while having fun at the same time.

To do this, the school opted for a blend of traditional sports markings and innovative educational designs to enhance the physical and mental engagement of even its smallest students.

What Challenges Did We Face with This Primary School?

One of the primary challenges we faced was the need for customisation. The school wanted to alter the colour schemes of certain playground markings to better suit their aesthetic and functional needs. Additionally, unexpected weather conditions posed a scheduling challenge, necessitating flexibility and prompt responsiveness from our team to avoid extended disruptions.

Fortunately, we were able to overcome both and deliver exactly what the school wanted and its kids needed. Flexibility in scheduling was key to overcoming weather-related setbacks. Our team worked closely with the school to rearrange the installation at the earliest opportunity, ensuring the project was completed with minimal disruption.

Our Playground Markings: Solutions and Implementation

Our approach was to provide a bespoke service, accommodating the school’s unique requests for colour customisation without compromising the quality and durability of the installations. Our extensive range of products allowed John Rankin Schools to choose from an exciting assortment of games and educational tools, including:

A Re-marked Netball Court and Short Tennis Courts

Instead of laying down a completely new Netball court, we were able to go over the lines of the school’s old one. Alongside this, we added some new Short Tennis courts. Brightly marked courts that are both appealing and functional mean a better place to teach kids about sports.

Custom-coloured Long Jump, Super Sprint Trail, and Activity Trail

Adding a splash of colour, the custom-coloured Long Jump and Super Sprint Trail offer a fun way to encourage physical activity. The Activity Trail even adds an opportunity to capture kids’ imaginations, as they conjure up adventures in their minds while they play and exercise.

Number Throw and Dartboard

Number Throw and Dartboards make fantastic interactive games, as they integrate physical education with numeracy skills to promote learning outside the classroom.

King Square

The King Square we supplied is a custom-coloured classic game that engages children in social play. It also helps to enhance skills such as hand-eye coordination.

Copy Me

A game meant for two, the Copy Me is an excellent way for students to form greater bonds and practise anything coordination-related. From clapping games to dancing, anything goes.

A Nice Reward: the Fitness Line

Offered as a complimentary addition, the Fitness Line installation served as an incentive and reward for the school’s engagement.

What was the Result?

A happier, brighter-looking playground! The newly installed playground markings have transformed John Rankin Schools’ sports court into a vibrant hub of activity. The colours and designs have lightened the area significantly, making it more inviting and stimulating for the children.
